Quick guide to common spiders

S. longipes and S. trapezia look similar enough so I am having problems working out which is which although I am sure I have photographed both. These are a medium-sized crab spider that seems to be active day and night. They are one of the most common spiders in this Bateau Bay spot.

They were uncommon at the Budgewoi recording site and I suspect the difference is in the nature of the two spots. One was a manicured yard and this one is slivers of woodland and grassland.

This girl was very annoyed. She had loaded the leaf and whatever it contained onto her platform after winching it up to about knee height from the ground and then wherever she found it. Some creature with a big bright light and gusting breath comes along and makes her think she is going to lose it.
